This year is the year of decisive battle against poverty. During the summer vacation, some colleges and universities sent social practice teams to carry out activities with the theme of tackling poverty. College students may go to the grassroots to investigate and develop their skills, or broadcast live "bringing goods" to help the poor, or go to the countryside to teach, light up "heart lights", or "teach in the cloud" and help the disabled with love … …
We have captured the social practice stories of five college students, hoping that the vast number of young people will strive to become idealistic, knowledgeable and talented doers in their practice at the grassroots level and make a career in the new era!

Go into the countryside at the grassroots level
Narration: Gao Tongyue, a 2019 undergraduate of Yuanpei College of Peking University.
Practice destination: Shouguang City, Shandong Province
From August 10 to 14, together with 30 other students from Yuanpei College, under the leadership of teachers, I worked hard to "build a well-off society in an all-round way ‘ Shouguang mode ’ " As the theme, the ideological and political practice course was carried out in Shouguang City, Shandong Province.
Wang Leyi, an 80-year-old secretary, told us a joke in the history museum of Sanyuan Zhucun Village: "In Hong Kong, people asked us if we had cucumbers without thorns. I said that if we didn’t have thorns, it wouldn’t be called cucumbers!" In the early years, Sanyuanzhu Village was not good at growing grain and growing vegetables. How to "uproot the poor roots" in this case? We are lost in thinking.
In the late 1980s, Wang Leyi, then secretary of the village Party branch, led the members of the village team to go out and investigate the market, and went to Northeast China many times, trying to develop greenhouse technology that could grow vegetables out of season. "If you burn three or four tons of coal in the shed in the cold winter, you can’t grow cucumbers. Can you get them out in the sun?" Technology was introduced, but the villagers didn’t buy it. "We 17 party member take the lead!" 17 cadres in party member built 17 winter-warm greenhouses, and the supply of fresh and tender off-season cucumbers was in short supply, which made everyone jealous. In 1990, the average household income of Sanyuanzhu Village increased by 10,000 yuan, and the villagers became "10,000 yuan households".
I heard my blood boiling, and I remembered the metaphor of the teacher who led the team about "seeds": when a big tree grows, more and more seeds will spread with the east wind. After many years, as the old secretary said: "Sanyuan Zhu Fu is not rich, Shouguang is not rich, and all the peasant brothers in the country are rich, so they are truly rich!" Sanyuan Zhucun sent excellent technicians to all parts of the country and built countless winter-warm greenhouses … … There is no history of fresh vegetables to eat in winter in the north, which is quietly changed in the efforts of "seeds".
In Shouguang, the vegetable greenhouse using soilless culture, automatic control and traceability technology of the Internet of Things makes us lament the advanced modern agriculture. The cooling tower of Shenhua Power Plant is more than 100 meters, which makes us know the power to overcome technical difficulties independently. In recent years, the double-creation industrial park invested and built shows us the start of high-tech enterprises … … The students discussed the driving force of Shouguang’s development with passion. I think, the most important thing is the firm confidence to win a well-off society in an all-round way, and the indomitable spirit to take root and break ground like a seed.
"We are from Saibei, south of the Yangtze River, and we are attached to the countryside … …” I often hum "Love in the Garden" and listen to my brothers and sisters. Many of them have determined their professional direction and research content in practice and made up their minds to join the grassroots front line. This practice has also planted a seed in our hearts. I believe that in the near future, this seed will grow sturdily and let youth bloom in the places where the party and the people need it most.
Live broadcast helps farmers harvest sweet.
Narration: Ma Jun, a 2019 undergraduate of Tsinghua University Institute of Economics and Management.
Practice destination: Beijing Consumer Poverty Alleviation Industry Innovation Center and Beijing-Mongolia Poverty Alleviation Cooperation (Tongliao) Science and Technology Innovation Base.
The exciting moment has finally come! For over a month, I have been looking forward to and preparing for this moment all the time.
"Hello everyone! I’m Tsinghua University ‘ Joint broadcast in Qing and Spring ’ Ma Jun, from Beijing Branch of Practice Detachment, today brings you a local agricultural product … …” At 7 o’clock on the evening of August 14th, my friends and I sat in the live broadcast room, holding carefully selected agricultural products, and became the "anchor" for the camera of the mobile phone, which was both nervous and excited.
When I was in middle school, I went to 13 poverty-stricken counties in Yunnan where ethnic minorities lived. The children from poor families deeply hurt my heart. I wanted to do something for them, but I felt that my strength was too small. How do college students help farmers get rid of poverty? How can we help more people? In May of this year, when I learned that Jinmi Village, Xiaoling Town, Zhashui County, Shaanxi Province, relied on e-commerce to get rid of poverty and become rich, my eyes lit up!
During the summer vacation, under my initiative, a group of like-minded friends hit it off and quickly formed four teams in Beijing, Heilongjiang, Jilin and Shaanxi — — The "Youth and Spring Joint Broadcasting" Tsinghua University Homecoming Live Poverty Alleviation Research Practice Detachment was established! Everyone divided into four roads and went to the local poverty-stricken counties. Our Beijing team is responsible for docking the Beijing Consumer Poverty Alleviation Industry Innovation Center and the Beijing-Mongolia Poverty Alleviation Cooperation (Tongliao) Science and Technology Innovation Base. There are agricultural products from Beijing to help poor counties, which can radiate and drive more areas.
Live broadcast is an "export" and there is a lot of work to be done in the early stage. Together with farmers, we study customer needs, understand the characteristics of live audiences, and polish product introduction and pricing repeatedly, trying to help farmers expand their influence on the premise of ensuring income. Without a professional live broadcast team, we will learn live broadcast skills, design posters, release preheating pushes and videos from scratch, and strive for more traffic support … …
All the efforts are worthwhile! Seeing one order after another, I feel that all my hard work has turned into sweetness. Unconsciously, the two-hour live broadcast ended. "What about the live data?" I can’t wait to ask my classmates. "50,000+online viewing, 60,000+likes, 658 transaction orders, with a total cargo of 19,871 yuan!" Everyone jumped up with excitement. After the live broadcast, the order volume continued to grow, and the students hugged each other tightly: "Great! To get rid of poverty and attack hard, we have our strength! "
The continuous efforts of border education
Narration: Yang Mingcong, a 2020 graduate student from School of Journalism, China Renmin University.
Practice destination: Lanping Bai Pumi Autonomous County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province
On July 31st, it began to rain lightly. The 22nd Graduate Education Group of Renmin University of China took over the baton from senior brothers and sisters and came to Lanping Bai Pumi Autonomous County. In the final year of winning a well-off society in an all-round way and fighting poverty, it is not only our choice but also the opportunity given by the times to go to the place where the motherland needs it most.
Lanping, one of the 52 poverty-stricken counties that have not taken off their hats as of March this year, is inhabited by 14 ethnic minorities, including Bai, Pumi, Lisu, Nu and Yi. It is located in the Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Nujiang in the three districts and three states of "Poverty among the Poor" and is also a poverty-stricken county supported by Renmin University of China. In the past six years, 56 members of the National People’s Congress Education Mission have successively gone here to help Lanping develop through poverty alleviation through education.
"I want to enter the military school and defend the frontier for the motherland in the future." In front of me, Gao Zhimin, a student of Lanping National Middle School, introduced his dream in this way, and my heart was full of emotion. Some of these children want to be doctors and some want to be teachers. The most common and firm ambition among them is to "serve the motherland and repay the mountains". I saw that on the way to Lijiang to attend the summer camp, the children were still very hard, and it was their normal state to exercise during the day and study at night.
While helping children, we are also knowledgeable and educated. "Nujiang lacks conditions, but it is not lacking in spirit". In order to solve the problem that "one side can’t feed one side", Lanping implemented ex situ poverty alleviation relocation and built five centralized resettlement sites. "Yong ‘an, Yongtai, Yongchang, Yongxing, Yongxiang", the community names are entrusted with their yearning for a better life.
Getting rid of poverty is a tough battle that must be won and played well. Looking forward to, in the southwest border of the motherland, in Lanping, and in education posts, our generation of young people will shine with youthful blood and dedication, live up to the great trust, and live up to the times!
Cloud classroom enlightens the soul
Narration: Li Yanjie, a 2019 undergraduate student at the School of Art and Media, Beijing Normal University.
Practice destination: Mianning County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province
"In the cursive prefix, one horizontal and two vertical are not mechanically placed, but the left vertical is short, the right vertical is long, the left vertical is low, and the right vertical is high. The horizontal painting is slightly raised to the right, and the lower ends of the two vertical lines form an adduction trend … …” On July 28th, when I turned on the computer, the children’s heads popped out one by one, and my calligraphy teacher began to speak again.
From a freshman to a primary school calligraphy teacher, I feel fresh and heavy. This summer vacation, our "Love Mianning, Dream in the Cloud" teaching team carried out "Cloud Teaching" and gave classes to primary school students in Mianning County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province online.
"Teacher Li, what’s the use of the seal on the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion? Is it for beauty?" A child asked questions in class. "This question is very good! It can be seen that everyone is curious about classic calligraphy works. " I said with a smile. Some people say that "education means that one tree shakes another tree and one cloud pushes another". I hope that my class will plant a seed of aesthetic education in children’s hearts.
How to stimulate children’s interest in calligraphy? After careful consideration, I collected stories such as Wang Xizhi’s Linchi learning books, writing classics for geese, and bamboo fan inscriptions in my lesson preparation. "The reason why Wang Xi is called ‘ Book saint ’ It is inseparable from the high degree of unity of his books and personality. I hope that the students will follow his example and learn from his indifferent fame and fortune, simplicity and kindness. " In the small windows of the computer screen, I saw many children nodding.
After a few days of lectures, I am pleased to find that the students have made great progress. Previously, children called calligraphy "writing" and didn’t know much about the beauty of writing. The process of turning writing into "calligraphy" is also the process of artistic enlightenment. I sincerely hope that children can gain the pleasure of calligraphy in overcoming difficulties and making progress.
Strive to give everyone a chance to shine in life, and the power of aesthetic education is indispensable. In this "cloud teaching", I feel that the children are full of enthusiasm for art when they listen carefully, raise their hands and ask questions and finish their homework again and again. I imagine that maybe a small class can light a few small flames and illuminate the dreams of children.
Guarding with your heart and helping your dreams come true
Narration: Wu Huilin, a 2019 undergraduate student at the School of Chemistry and Bioengineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing.
Practice destination: Siping School for the Deaf, Jilin Province
"My brother and sister who can talk and sing are in the mobile phone!" On July 31, parents pointed to the screen and told their children around them. Sitting in front of the computer, looking at the lovely little angels, I really want to do more for them. This is a group of hearing-impaired children, whose innocent smiles often make me forget their shortcomings.
"I don’t know if the child can recover. It has been a long time since I heard the voice." A mother confided to me that her child suffered from inner ear malformation, and even if cochlear implants were made, the effect might not be good.
I know, maybe I can change very little, but as long as I do it, it will always be different. Before teaching, I designed a whole set of "interesting pronunciation courses" for children and received training from relevant experts. Time is limited. I want to teach more content to children, but I am worried about their acceptance. What should I do? After getting the specific situation of the children, I adjusted the difficulty of the course overnight, decided to "teach students in accordance with their aptitude" and groped for a "one-on-one" teaching plan for each child.
I want to show them the world. Maybe they can’t hear the wind blowing leaves and Xia Chan singing, but I want them to know the beauty of this world. Our team specially recorded a video for the children. In the video, my brother and sister told them in sign language, "We are all the same". Perhaps, they are doomed to be unable to "stand as high" as most people, so let’s put a brick under their feet, build a ladder for them, let them stand on our shoulders, stimulate their interest, help them make progress, and support their dreams with our efforts.
"To build a well-off society in an all-round way, there must be no less disabled people." Among the disabled, these lovely children need help and love more. The strength of one person and one team may not be enough, but if we do our best, more people will notice this group. In the days to come, we will continue to protect the hearing-impaired children and let them feel with practical actions that "every child can shine his own light!" "
