Top 100 Most Innovative Universities in the World: The ranking of China University has made great progress.

The reference news network reported on September 30 that foreign media said that the world’s most innovative university rankings show that European and American universities are still more competitive than their Asian counterparts in the fields of research and innovation and promotion of industrial and market applications.

According to a report on the website of Deutsche Welle Radio on September 28th, among the top 100 most innovative universities in the world published by Reuters in 2017, there are 51 universities in North America, 26 universities in Europe, 20 universities in Asia and 3 universities in the Middle East.

Stanford University won the championship again. Stanford University, located in the center of Silicon Valley in California, has always played a key role in the development of modern network technology. Many of its graduates have become founders of leading IT companies, such as Google, Intel and Hewlett-Packard. New technologies and ideas from Stanford are frequently cited in the global academic and industrial circles. This is also one of the criteria for measuring innovation in colleges and universities in this ranking.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University also ranked second and third again. Ranked fourth is the University of Pennsylvania. The University of Leuven in Belgium, which has a history of nearly 600 years, ranks fifth.

Among the top 20 innovative universities in Asia, there are two Korean universities, namely Korea Institute of Science and Technology (6th place) and Pohang University of Technology (14th place).

According to the report, three universities in China entered the top 100 list this year, namely Tsinghua, Peking University and Zhejiang University. Compared with last year, the rankings of these universities have made great progress. Tsinghua jumped 15 places, ranking 51; Peking University rose by 10 places, ranking 60th; Zhejiang University ranks among the top 100 for the first time, ranking 100th.

The analysis also pointed out that one of the reasons for the poor performance of Asian universities in general is the long-term lack of funds in Japanese universities. Universities are important scientific research centers in Japan, but they rely heavily on government funding. Japan’s economic growth has been stagnant and deflation has been as long as 20 years. The reduction of public funds invested in colleges and universities means the decline of innovation ability. There are 8 Japanese universities on this list, and the top ranked is the University of Tokyo, ranking 21st.

According to the report, seven universities in Germany have entered the top 100 innovative universities, including Munich University of Technology (40th), Erlangen-Nuremberg University (50th), Munich University (64), University of Freiburg (81), Free University of Berlin (86), University of Mainz (91) and Dresden University of Technology (97).
