Since December 5, 2020, the Ministry of Public Security deployed a special campaign to focus on cracking down on crimes against the management of national (border) territory, the country has detected more than 18,000 criminal cases against the management of national (border) territory, arrested more than 48,000 criminal suspects, and seized more than 47,000 illegal immigrants, 2.3 times, 3.6 times and 3.4 times that of the previous year respectively; 2,497 criminal smuggling gangs were destroyed, 797 transit dens were destroyed, 2,288 vehicles (ships) were seized, and 1,116 intermediaries and enterprises were investigated. According to reports, the situation of border smuggling at key ports in China is severe and complicated. Driven by huge profits, criminals at home and abroad are constantly renovating their modus operandi. By means of land smuggling and sea smuggling, they stop at nothing to organize, transport and lead Chinese and foreign personnel to illegally enter and leave the country to engage in illegal and criminal activities, which has caused real harm to national security, social stability and the interests of the people.

Since the launch of the special campaign to focus on cracking down on crimes against the management of national (border) territory, public security organs and immigration management agencies across the country have achieved outstanding results by strengthening deployment and command, special strikes, synthetic operations, pursuit and arrest, and comprehensive rectification, cracking down on illegal entry and exit activities of China citizens, severely punishing illegal entry and exit activities of foreigners, preventing overseas epidemics from bringing risks through illegal entry personnel, strictly tackling key problems, and focusing on cracking down on crimes against the management of national (border) territory.

At the press conference, the relevant person in charge of the National Immigration Bureau also announced 10 typical cases, including the "1.24" case in Yunnan and the "11.18" case in Guangxi, which were detected during the special struggle. Of the more than 48,000 criminal suspects arrested, 20,353 have been arrested and 13,554 have been sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment according to law, of which 68 have been sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment for more than seven years, which has effectively shocked the illegal and criminal activities that hinder the management of the country (border).
