  CCTV News:On April 18th, the State Council held a press conference on the development of industry and informatization in the first quarter of 2024. Shan Zhongde, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced at the meeting that major industrial provinces, cities and key industries maintained steady growth in the first quarter. The industrial added value of 28 of the 31 provinces increased year-on-year, and the growth rate of 9 major industrial provinces such as Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian and Hubei was higher than the national average. Among the 50 major industrial cities, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Hefei, Nantong, Taizhou and Dongguan have achieved double-digit growth, and major industrial provinces and cities have played a leading role. Key industries are running smoothly and well. Among the 41 major industrial sectors, the added value of 37 industries, such as electronics and automobiles, maintained a year-on-year growth, with an increase of 22 percentage points over last year. The equipment manufacturing industry continued to grow rapidly. In the first quarter, the added value increased by 7.6% year-on-year, which boosted the growth of industries above designated size by 2.4 percentage points, giving play to the role of equipment support and growth. The production of consumer goods manufacturing industry has improved significantly. The added value in the first quarter increased by 4.2% year-on-year, reversing the downturn since April 2022. The raw material manufacturing industry maintained steady growth. In the first quarter, the added value increased by 7.5% year-on-year, among which the growth rate of non-ferrous and chemical industries exceeded the overall industrial level.
